Five-Way Tussle Involving Five Candidates in Batu Parliament

POSTED ON

Like many places all over the country, in the GE13 we see a five-way tussle involving five
candidates in Batu Parliament. However, in my view it is still a straight fight between my honourable challenger from BN-Gerakan, Dr Dominic Lau Hoe Chai and I, as the
representative from Pakatan Rakyat.
The other three are two independent candidates – Atan Jasin and Nazariah Abbas, and Datuk Hashim Karim from Berjasa. In a democratic nation, any citizen is free to contest in an election.
For the voters, this general election is a choice between change for better or remain the same. It is also a clash of two value systems. The people will now choose either Pakatan Rakyat or Barisan Nasional, and the election in Batu constituency is no difference. As voters all understand, independent candidates will not be able to form a government, neither they are able to present a set of coherent policies for governance.
After over 56 years since Independence, what the people want is nothing but a total change of the Federal Government. The people want a clear direction for the nation to move forward. Pakatan Rakyat has produced an election manifesto which has laid down all the necessary measures and strategy to implement comprehensive reforms.
On the other hand, Barisan Nasional Government led by Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak failed to chart a new direction for the country. In this General election Najib has been on a frenzy drive around the country, splashing all sorts of goodies for the people. Unfortunately, Malaysians in general would not buy into such tactics to fish votes.
Therefore, the rakyat will be the judge in this case in the coming General Election. Let the people decide between I and Dr Dominique Lau on May 5 who best represent the real aspiration and interest of the nation.
